A cover is essential for proper maintenance of a wood-fired hot tub. With a cover, you prevent leaves, rainwater, dust and other dirt from getting into the water. This keeps the water clean for longer and means you need to clean it less often.

In addition, a cover helps retain heat. That's not only pleasant, but also efficient: you need to heat the hot tub for less time and use less wood.

Clean the cover regularly with a soft cloth, lukewarm water and a mild cleaning agent. The underside of the cover in particular can become damp from condensation, which can lead to mould forming more quickly.

Let the cover air out from time to time. For example, briefly remove it from the hot tub after use or leave it slightly open, so moisture can evaporate. Don't put a wet cover back on fully closed for a long period.

Make sure the hot tub itself is clean before putting the cover on. Dirt, leaves and standing water under the cover increase the risk of mould and musty odours.
